Is Georgia unstoppable? SEC coaches predict the Bulldogs’ biggest threats

April 10, 2023 by CFB Report Leave a Comment

The Georgia Bulldogs dominated the college football world last season with a perfect 15-0 record and a national championship title. They crushed No. 3 TCU in the title game with a historic 65-7 victory, the largest win by any team in a major college bowl game. The Bulldogs are hoping to repeat their success this season with a strong incoming class of recruits, second only to Alabama.

But who can stop them? According to SEC head coaches, Alabama and Ohio State are the biggest threats to the Bulldogs. LSU, who lost to Georgia in the SEC championship game last year, is also building towards the same model as Georgia, but may not yet have the physicality needed to match up. Of course, the biggest threat to Georgia may be themselves if they don’t play at their best.

Georgia’s schedule this season is tough, with games against Tennessee and potential matchups with Alabama and LSU in the SEC championship game. Last season, Georgia beat the LSU Tigers 50-30 to clinch the SEC title.

If Alabama wants to take down the Bulldogs this year, they’ll need to reduce their turnovers and penalties. Georgia has a tendency to blitz elite quarterbacks, but Alabama has been effective when blitzed under Nick Saban. Additionally, Georgia struggles with long passes, while Alabama is one of the best teams in the FBS at defending against them.

It remains to be seen who can stop the Georgia Bulldogs this season, but one thing is clear: they’re the team to beat.
