Florida A&M University (FAMU) is focusing on fielding prospects as the NCAA Transfer Portal reopens. The Rattlers are looking to fill gaps in their roster before the transfer portal spring window closes. FAMU netted fifteen transfers during midyear recruiting, with a big focus on the running back room. The Rattlers now have nine options from the backfield, with newcomers Jaquez Yant and Kelvin Dean Jr. headlining the group. The team also has a few spots to fill, including wide receiver, and could go for a kicker with in-game experience.
FAMU is projected to have two young kickers in redshirt freshman Joshua Romeo and Michael Smith, but may add Cameron Gillis, former kicker for Stetson, who kicked 9 of 11 field goals and didn’t miss any PATs in 2022. The Rattlers defensive line was thin during the spring due to injuries, and the team is looking to add more depth, with newcomer Tyrese Gibson-Battles helping to shoulder the load. FAMU’s spring recruiting has seen the addition of several transfers, and the team still has several spots to fill.
