Several college football players who struggled during the 2022 season could have a standout 2023 campaign. Tyler Van Dyke, the quarterback of Miami, had a poor year due to injuries and underperformance, but with an improved offensive line, he is expected to have a much better season in 2023. TrevEyon Henderson, an Ohio State running back, also had several setbacks due to injuries, but he is expected to return as the featured running back with his versatility. Rasheen Ali, a Marshall running back, had limited appearances last season because of improving his mental health and a knee injury, but he should regain his 2021 form in 2023 with Khalan Laborn as a backup. Bryce Foster, a Texas A&M center, missed eight games last year because of a knee injury, and his return is expected to stabilize the team’s offense. Xavier Thomas, a Clemson defensive end, struggled with multiple injuries since 2020, but his talent could help rebuild his substantial draft stock if he stays healthy. Finally, LSU’s defensive tackle Maason Smith, who only played a few snaps in the opening game in 2022 before tearing his left ACL, is expected to make a return and improve LSU’s defense in the 2023 season.
