Two Alabama quarterbacks, Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson, vying for the starting position in place of Bryce Young, threw a combined three interceptions during the Crimson Tide’s annual A-Day scrimmage. While Saban acknowledged the value of having Milroe and Simpson in the program for more than a year with a better understanding of the offense, he did not exactly give a ringing endorsement of their performance. Two true freshman quarterbacks, Dylan Lonergan and Eli Holstein, were the No. 5- and No. 6-rated pocket passers in the 2023 class and also received praise from Saban. Freshman running back Justice Haynes was a standout, leading all rushers with two touchdowns.
