Former University of Kansas basketball player Billy Preston has withdrawn his claim that the school’s staff knew about the illegal payments being made to his mother by Adidas during his recruitment. T.J. Gassnola, an Adidas associate, admitted to making payments to Preston’s mother during an FBI investigation in 2018. However, he also testified that he “made sure” the school did not know about the payments. Preston had previously suggested that the Kansas staff were aware of the payments, but he has now changed his story. Kansas is still dealing with the fallout from the case and is litigating with the NCAA.
