
Minnesota Gophers standout safety Tyler Nubin, who opted to return to college rather than make himself available for the NFL draft, pushed for more playing time during spring practice. Coach P.J. Fleck, however, used Nubin sparingly to keep him away from injury and give younger players a chance. Nubin even enlisted Fleck’s wife, Heather, to help his cause. But during the spring game, Nubin scored a touchdown in a limited role and was named one of three players named Sid Hartman Spring Game MVPs. The Gold team won the game 36-34 over the Maroon team in overtime.
