Lukas Van Ness, a defensive lineman from the University of Iowa, is emerging as a potential pick for the first round of the NFL draft. Although he never started for Phil Parker’s defense, Van Ness became known on campus for serving in various roles for the Hawkeyes to achieve impressive collegiate stats. Scouts were also impressed by his physical makeup, including his 6’5” and 272 pound frame and a 4.58 40, a time that ranks eighth among edge rushers in this year’s draft. Van Ness may go as high as sixth or as low as 27th in the draft, which will be shown on ESPN, ABC or NFL Network.
