College football games for Divisions I and II will be slightly shorter in the 2023 season due to a new rule change that allows the game clock to continuously run after a first down. Additionally, penalties accepted at the end of the first and third quarters will be enforced at the start of the following quarter rather than having an untimed down, and back-to-back timeouts during the same dead-ball period are no longer allowed. The college sports world has been focusing on several teams, including the Texas Longhorns, whose baseball team recently tumbled out of the Top 25 rankings after a sweep by Oklahoma, while Texas football player Bijan Robinson draws attention as he hopes to be picked early in the NFL draft. Basketball transfer Kadin Shedrick, formerly from Virginia, recently committed to Texas. The transfer portal is also expected to be busy in the coming weeks.
