Michigan football will host the Texas Longhorns at Michigan Stadium on September 7, 2024, despite Texas joining the SEC starting in 2024. The original contract was altered so that U-M will now host Texas, with a trip to Austin for a game on September 11, 2027. The series was originally announced back in 2014. In addition to Texas, Michigan has nonconference games scheduled against Fresno State and Arkansas State for the 2024 season, and home games scheduled with Western Michigan in 2026 and 2029. The Wolverines also scheduled UTEP for 2026, meaning the non-conference schedule for that season is officially completed. The Oklahoma Sooners will travel to the Big House on September 12, 2026, to play at Michigan Stadium for the first time.
Although Michigan’s non-conference schedule in 2023 should be relatively stress-free, the Wolverines are adding increasingly tough and consistent non-conference opponents to face in the future. The non-conference slate for 2023 includes home games against East Carolina, UNLV, and Bowling Green. The Wolverines do not know their Big Ten slate for future seasons, as the conference has held off announcing its scheduling plans, including the division set-up, with UCLA and USC joining the conference in 2024.
