South Carolina football transfer target Derrick McLendon has committed to play for the Colorado Buffaloes through the transfer portal, leaving South Carolina struggling to fill their defensive end position. Transfers from Jordan Burch, Gilber Edmond, and Rodricus Fitten have left the position extremely thin, but several defensive tackles have enough athleticism to play outside, as well as linebackers Donovan Westmoreland, Jaron Willis, and Bam Martin-Scott. Bryan Thomas, Jr. is an undersized EDGE player who has had a good spring but his size may not hold up against the physical conference of the SEC. South Carolina is still in the market for a defensive end, with the rumored return home of Jordan Burch still unsubstantiated.
