The Carolina Panthers have drafted Ole Miss wide receiver Jonathan Mingo with their 39th pick in the second round. Mingo stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 220 pounds, making him a strong slot receiver with outstanding capability to gain yards after catching the ball. Throughout his career, he has managed 1,758 yards on 112 receptions and scored 12 touchdowns, averaging 15.7 yards per catch in 34 games with the Rebels.
Mingo has mainly modeled his game after fellow Ole Miss alumni A.J. Brown and DK Metcalf, and he’s . excited to join a wide receiver lineup that includes new teammates DJ Chark and Adam Thielen. He was awarded second-team All-SEC honors during his senior year in 2022 and is noted for his close relationship with the new wide receivers coach, Shawn Jefferson.
Being a versatile and reliable target for his new teammate and quarterback Bryce Young, Mingo has the ability to transform short throws into big touchdowns. The Panthers have high expectations for Mingo as they aim to utilize his skills and solidify their roster for the upcoming season.
