Colorado Running Back Alton McCaskill Enters NCAA Transfer Portal Under Deion Sanders' Coaching

Another player from Colorado has decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal, joining a growing list of departures. Running back Alton McCaskill, who earned AAC Rookie of the Year honors while at Houston, plans to move on from the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders.

McCaskill, a former four-star prospect, played in just four games at Colorado, carrying the ball 14 times for 59 yards. He eventually redshirted the season to preserve his eligibility, which he will not be using with the Buffaloes in the future.

Joining McCaskill in the transfer portal is tight end Chamon Metayer, who previously played at Cincinnati. Metayer had a standout season in 2023, finishing with 23 catches for 258 yards and five touchdowns. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, he offers both blocking and receiving skills to his next team.

Deion Sanders, in his first season as head coach of Colorado, has utilized the transfer portal effectively to reshape the team. After a 4-8 finish in his debut season, Sanders will continue to work on building a competitive roster for the Buffaloes.

As the dust settles on the transfers, Colorado looks ahead to the challenge of regaining momentum and aiming for a bowl game under Sanders' leadership.
