Controversial Tweet Directed at Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker Causes Uproar
In Kansas City, a controversial tweet directed at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker was briefly posted and then promptly deleted by the City's official Twitter account.
The tweet referenced Butker's residence in another municipality and was removed within half an hour of being shared on social media.
Harrison Butker gained attention recently for his commencement speech at Benedictine College, where he expressed his views on Pride month, President Joe Biden's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, and his stance on abortion.
During his speech, Butker made controversial statements, particularly addressing women and their roles in society as wives and mothers.
Mayor Quinton Lucas responded to a query about the deleted tweet, stating that it was inappropriate for the City of Kansas City to have made such a post.
Following Lucas's comments, the City issued an apology, acknowledging the mistake and attributing the tweet to an error in sharing.
Lucas emphasized the inappropriateness of the message and pledged to investigate the account's access to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
