Former WNBA Rookie Angel Reese Becomes Owner of Women's Soccer Team DC Power Football Club
Angel Reese, a WNBA rookie and former college basketball standout, has added a new title to her resume - professional sports owner. The Washington, D.C.-based women's soccer team, DC Power Football Club, announced Reese as its newest owner. Reese aims to support and elevate female athletes and grow women's sports across the board.
With deep ties to the D.C. community, Reese hopes to establish pathways for aspiring pro athletes by joining Power FC. As the club's first celebrity owner, Reese brings the potential to expand DC Power's reach beyond soccer and the DMV area.
As part of the WNBA's rookie class and a member of the Chicago Sky, Reese entered the league with significant partnerships with brands like Reebok, Beats, and Tampax. She envisions owning her own team one day and hopes to make a mark as a female owner in the sports industry.
Reese gained national recognition after winning the NCAA Division I national championship with the LSU Lady Tigers in 2023. The DC Power team recently revealed its name, logo, and appointed its inaugural president and coach.
DC Power will compete in the USL Super League, starting in August. The team will play in Audi Field, sharing the stadium with D.C. United and the Washington Spirit of the NWSL.
