Four-Star RB Akylin Dear Decommits from Ole Miss - What's Next for the Elite Prospect?
Decommitment has been weighing heavily on the mind of Quitman (Miss.) four-star running back Akylin Dear, leading him to officially back off his pledge from Ole Miss.
The 6-foot, 200-pound elite prospect had been committed to the in-state Rebels since March 30 but recently took official visits to Alabama and Texas A&M in June, opening up his recruitment once again.
Dear expressed that the decision was a tough one, balancing the desire to represent his home state with his childhood dream of playing for a specific team. Ultimately, he made the choice that he felt was best for himself and his family.
Alabama has been a significant player in Dear's recruitment, with a recent official visit to Tuscaloosa further solidifying their position. While other schools have shown interest, Dear is taking his time to ensure that his decision is the right one.
Ranked as the No. 36 recruit and the No. 2 running back in the 2025 cycle, Dear is also the second-ranked player in Mississippi. He is praised for his three-down back abilities, physical build, speed, and versatility on the field.
As of now, Dear does not have any visits planned for the end of July, signaling a deliberate approach to his decision-making process before focusing on his upcoming season.
