Georgia Bulldogs Claim Top Spot in ESPN's 2024 Preseason Rankings
The upcoming 2024 season may seem far away, with just a month passing since the end of the 2023 season.
However, when the action kicks off in August, all eyes will be on the Georgia Bulldogs as the team to watch.
ESPN's Bill Connelly recently unveiled the SP+ rankings for the 2024 season, with the Bulldogs claiming the top spot. These rankings consider returning production, recruiting rankings, and recent success, all of which favor Georgia as the team to beat.
With two national championships under their belt and the No. 1 recruiting class for 2024, it's no surprise that Georgia leads the pack.
Georgia's quarterback, Carson Beck, deciding to return for the 2024 season provides a significant boost. In his debut season, Beck showcased his talent by throwing for nearly 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Although the Bulldogs have lost key players around Beck, including tight end Brock Bowers and wide receiver Ladd McConkey, they have strengthened the roster through the transfer portal.
Connelly's rankings feature six SEC teams in the top 11, highlighting the conference's competitiveness. Teams like Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, and Missouri are closely trailing Georgia in the rankings.
As Georgia aims for another successful season, they face a challenging schedule with road games against tough opponents like Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss, as well as a season opener against Clemson.
