The College Football Hall of Fame has announced the 2024 class of inductees, and it includes two legendary players: Randy Moss and Alex Smith.
Moss, known for his incredible skills as a wide receiver, played for Marshall from 1996 to 1997. In his first season, he broke a school record by scoring 29 touchdowns and leading the Thundering Herd to the NCAA Division I-AA national title. The following year, Moss recorded 25 touchdowns and won the Fred Biletnikoff Award. He also finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting that season. Moss went on to have a remarkable 16-year career in the NFL, earning six Pro Bowl selections and being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
Alex Smith, on the other hand, was a star quarterback for Utah from 2002 to 2004. As a sophomore in 2003, he threw for 15 touchdowns and 2,247 yards. In his junior year, Smith set multiple records, including Utah's school record for single-season touchdown passes. He led the Utes to a perfect 12-0 season in 2004 and a BCS bowl berth in the Fiesta Bowl, where he threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns. Smith was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers as the No. 1 pick in the 2005 NFL Draft and went on to have a successful 16-year career, receiving the 2020 NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award after overcoming a serious leg injury.
The 2024 class of the College Football Hall of Fame will also include 19 First Team All-America players and three coaches. The induction ceremony will take place during the National Football Foundation Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas on December 10.
