Texas Longhorns Set to Take on College Football Evolution in 2024 Season

College football is evolving rapidly, and the 2024 season seems poised to be the culmination of all the changes. With conference realignment settled and the introduction of a 12-team playoff, every Saturday in the fall will be must-watch TV.

For the Texas Longhorns, their move to the SEC comes at a perfect time after a successful 12-win season that included a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff appearance. Quarterback Quinn Ewers, returning for his third season as a starter, has the potential to elevate his draft stock with a standout 2024 campaign.

Texas faces a tough schedule with games against national champions like the Michigan Wolverines and the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Anything less than a Playoff appearance would be considered a disappointment for the Longhorns.

Heading into the season, Sporting News has projected the 12-team Playoff field and all bowl games. Texas is predicted to be the No. 5 seed, hosting Memphis in the first round and potentially facing off against teams like Florida State and Georgia in subsequent games.

The Oklahoma Sooners are forecasted to miss the playoffs and play in the Gator Bowl, while Texas A&M is expected to feature in the Reliaquest Bowl against Nebraska.
