The University of Utah Set to Receive Royalty Payout Surpassing BYU and Utah State
The success of Kyle Whittingham’s program at the University of Utah over the past decade has positioned the team to receive a well-earned forthcoming payday, reportedly surpassing what BYU and Utah State will receive.
According to details provided by Cllct’s Matt Liberman, the royalty payouts for EA Sports College Football 25 will be distributed to the 134 FBS-level college football teams, with Utah among the highest payouts in the country.
The payouts are determined by a four-tiered system based on the number of times a team finished in the top 25 rankings in the Associated Press poll from 2014-2023.
Utah will receive the highest-tier payout of $99,875.16, while BYU and Utah State are in the second-highest tier receiving $59,025.09 each.
Tier 3 payouts are $39,950.06 per school, and Tier 4 schools will receive $9,987.52.
Utah is one of 13 programs in Tier 1, alongside schools like Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson, having earned six points from their top 25 finishes in the past ten years.
BYU and Utah State are both in Tier 2, with two top 25 finishes each in the past decade.
Utah, now part of the Big 12 Conference, is one of two league teams in Tier 1, while BYU is among nine Big 12 schools in Tier 2.
College Football 25 is set to be released on July 19, offering fans an exciting look at the upcoming season.
