UNLV Cornerback Ricky Johnson Commits to Michigan Wolverines
The recent addition of UNLV cornerback Ricky Johnson to the Michigan Wolverines is another success in the team's recruitment efforts. Johnson, a fifth-year player from Houston, Texas, announced his commitment to Michigan on social media platform Instagram.
Immediately after the reports surfaced, Michigan coach Sherrone Moore took to social media to seemingly celebrate Johnson's addition to the team.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 180 pounds, Johnson brings a wealth of experience to the Wolverines. In his time at UNLV, he totaled 78 tackles, four interceptions, and 14 pass breakups, showcasing his talent and skills on the field.
Despite facing an injury that sidelined him for most of the 2022 season, Johnson returned in '23 with a strong performance, recording 36 tackles and seven pass breakups in 12 games for the Rebels.
Johnson joins a competitive defensive back room at Michigan, adding depth and experience to the roster. With two years of eligibility remaining, he is expected to compete for a starting cornerback spot and potentially fill the "nickel" position on the team.
